Indian River High School Graduation 2025

● Date/Time/Place: The graduation ceremony will begin at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 3rd at the IR Athletic stadium. The rain date is Wednesday, June 4th. Graduates should plan to arrive between 6 – 6:15pm for instructions and line-up. We will meet on the far-right side of the parking lot in front of the stadium where you will see faculty volunteers with row number signs. Report to your assigned row #. Row numbers will be posted on Schoology no later than Friday, May 30th. If you do not know your row number, the faculty volunteers will have a master list to direct you. It is very important that you report to the correct row number and follow instructions for the line-up since this corresponds with the correct seating on the field. Your chair will have your name taped to the back and this is the order in which you will receive your diploma. While you are lining up, the faculty line proctor will take attendance, and deliver academic medals to those who qualify. We will begin the single-file processional into the stadium and to your seats at approximately 6:45pm. There will be faculty members along the way to guide you to the correct place. Everyone remains standing until Mr. Williams directs you to sit.

YOUR ROW NUMBER WILL BE POSTED ON THE CLASS OF 2025 SCHOOLOGY PAGE AND SENT OUT IN AN EMAIL TO HOUSEHOLDS ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY, MAY 30TH.

● Parking: The parking area in front of the stadium is reserved for families and guests only. There will be handicapped parking and we will have volunteers in the parking lot to assist with parking and transporting guests who may have difficulty walking. Students who bring their own vehicles must park in front of the school/main office.

● Tickets/Seating: Each graduate will receive 10 tickets for guests. In order to provide safe and adequate seating, all adults and children over the age of three must have a ticket. Guests can begin entering the stadium through the main gate starting at 5:45 pm. The gate on the away side will also be open to accommodate seating when the home side is full. The bleachers are handicapped accessible.

● Pictures: Photographs will be taken of the event and of each graduate by Sam Ellis and Lifetouch Photography. Information on obtaining these photos will be available on our social media sites and on the IRHS website. We ask that guests do not leave their seats to take pictures. You will have an opportunity to take pictures on the field following the ceremony. You will cross the stage from right to left. There will be someone to cue you when to cross. You will shake hands with your right hand and receive your diploma in your left hand. When you cross the stage to exit, pause briefly while holding your diploma in front of you to have your picture taken.

● Live Stream: There will be a live feed of the graduation ceremony with links posted on the Indian River High School and Indian River School District websites and on Facebook. These links will be posted in advance of graduation night.

● Dress code: The graduates should dress in a manner that dignifies the importance of this evening. Girls should wear a white, beige, or very light-colored outfit (dress, skirt/top, dressy pants or capris with a top, romper) with comfortable shoes or sandals. Keep in mind that you will be walking on the field and across a stage to receive your diploma, so plan your footwear accordingly. Guys should wear khaki or dress pants, a collared shirt, and a necktie or bow tie. Clean (like new) sneakers, Vans, Sanuks, or a dress shoe is totally fine. Do not place a heated iron on your gown because it will melt. If you want to take out the wrinkles, hang it up and steam it or place it briefly in a low heat clothes dryer with a damp towel. If you want to decorate your cap you may do so, but make sure there is nothing derogatory or inflammatory with your message. We also request that you have nothing dangling off the sides of your cap. Don’t forget to wear any honors cords, medals, or pins that you have received due to participation in school activities. Lastly, if you plan to toss your cap in the air, remove your tassel and make sure your name is in the cap so you can get it back. At the start of the ceremony, tassels will be on the right side of your cap. During the ceremony you will be prompted as a class to move the tassel to the left.

● Cell Phones and Valuables: Student cell phones should remain off/silenced during the ceremony. Refrain from taking selfies and photos until the ceremony is over. Girls, small purses can be worn under your gown and placed under your seat on the field to hold car keys, cell phones, and any other necessities, or you can leave these items with a family member to pick up later.

● If rain looks likely for June 3rd, we will need to use June 4th as the rain date. You will receive a call around 12 noon on Tuesday, June 3rd to confirm if the ceremony is on or off.

● If you have any last minute questions, it will probably be easier to reach me through a message on Schoology.

Thanks, Mrs. Hilary Diefenderfer
